We discovered last night that much of the road work happens at night, the last photo is of Chere bringing iced tea to all of the construction workers working in the street right outside the Corcoran.
Yesterday, Chere and I started working in the concrete area in the garden-- we were both drawn to it as a place to 'play house'. We started by sweeping it, and then we began to roll the logs of a cut up tree into the space to make a meeting/ gathering place for resting and making things. We will continue this today. We talked a lot during the day about our involvement in the project being a 'leap of faith', and so we're going to write that out with sticks and tie them together. We hope that others will continue to activate the space after this week.
Last night at the Corcoran, Chere set up the kitchen table outside of the sheds and made delicious zinger iced tea. There was a lot of foot traffic last night, partly due to a public meeting about the future of the Corcoran. It sounds as if it was a heated discussion, and many people came to drink iced tea and continue the discussion after the meeting was over. I continued to ask people about things in their lives and the world that need mending, and have gotten so many wonderful responses, I am not going to be able to sew them all before I leave, but perhaps I can keep it going in some kind of online capacity.
